OGDEN, Utah — Ogden Contemporary Arts and Shaw Gallery at Weber State University are featuring exhibits during “Formation,” the 59th annual conference of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) in Salt Lake City this week.
The NCECA Conference brings together the ceramics community for exhibitions, discussions, and networking. NCECA, a nonprofit educational organization established in 1966, works with local arts communities to “promote exhibitions that increase public dialogue, recognition, appreciation, and critical investigation of ceramic art.”
As part of the conference, there are bus tours available for exhibits in the Salt Lake Area. Here are the stops for Ogdenites or those wanting to travel north to celebrate ceramic art:
Ogden Contemporary Arts 455 25th Street, Ogden
“GOOD GIRL,” curated by Kasey Lou Lindley, by Elyse Pignolet “explores feminist issues through ceramic art, embedding politically charged messages into traditional porcelain patterns that critique misogyny, inequality, and cultural stereotypes. Pignolet’s work highlights the intersection of tradition and modernity.” On display through April 13.
“DOOMSCROLLER,” curated by Kasey Lou Lindley, by Aimee Odum “combines ceramics and AI to examine the impact of digital distraction and information overload, questioning humanity’s evolving relationship with technology. A visual artist and educator with international accolades, Odum bridges tactile craftsmanship with conceptual inquiry.”
Signed copies of “You Should Calm Down” featuring essays and an interview with Elyse Pignolet are available at Ogden Contemporary Arts and the NCECA Resource Hall, Table T86.
