Snowbasin Resort is upgrading to a new high-speed detachable quad, and its historic Becker chairlifts are being auctioned as a fundraiser for the Snowbasin Sports Education Foundation (SSEF) through April 15. It’s an opportunity for the community to own a piece of Utah history and contribute to the next generation of winter athletes and future Olympians.

The public can bid, “buy now,” or donate to SSEF for entry into weekly opportunity drawings to win one of the Becker chairs.

The Becker triple chairlift, installed in 1986, was named after Gustav “Gus” Becker, a key figure of Utah skiing history and co-founder of the Becker Brewing and Malting Company of Ogden, the longest continuously operating brewing company in the state, established in 1890.

Snowbasin donated the Becker chairs to SSEF, a nonprofit organization that provides winter sports for youth in the local community. The foundation is auctioning off the historic Becker triple chairs as part of a fundraiser to sustain its youth ski programs.

"We are incredibly grateful to Snowbasin Resort for donating the Becker chairlifts to support our mission," SSEF Executive Director Troy Price said in a press release. “This unique fundraiser helps preserve a piece of history while directly funding the training of future Olympians and exceptional student-athletes. Every dollar raised will help young skiers reach their full potential on and off the slopes."
