NEWS

Ogden, UT—Steve’s Black Sabbath BBQ is opening a new restaurant in Ogden with Taboo Pizza inside the former Slackwater building along the Ogden River. A kick-off “backyard” BBQ bash with live music, food, and community is planned for Thursday, Oct. 17.

Steve’s Black Sabbath is hosting the Backyard BBQ Bash at the site of their future restaurant, which is slated to open early in 2025 on Ogden River Parkway in the old Slackwater building on Washington Boulevard.

If you previously heard that Taboo Pizza was poised to take over that location then you heard right. This is a joint venture between Taboo Pizza and Steve’s Black Sabbath BBQ.

Steve Armstrong, a veteran and transplant from rural Texas, met Taboo Pizza owner Jeremy Holmes at a local community event. The two entrepreneurs discussed the future of their businesses and Armstrong mentioned his dream of opening a restaurant location, expanding on the success of his food truck and catering services.

Holmes helped make that dream come true and invited Armstrong to share the restaurant space with him.

“Ogden will take care of you, and I think that’s freakin’ awesome!,” he said, echoing a sentiment he has heard since moving to Utah in 2019.

Armstrong looks to take care of Ogden, too, not only with his authentic Texas-style BBQ including brisket, pulled pork, wings, and smoked peach cobbler…but also through building community. He employs veterans, brings people together around food and music, and does charity work with non-profit organizations. He will receive the American Hometown Heroes Award, presented by American Heroes Outdoors Television, on Friday, Oct. 11.

All are invited to enjoy free samples and meet Steve Armstrong and the Black Sabbath crew on Thursday, Oct. 17 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 1877 Washington Blvd. (old Slackwater). Local musicians Paddy Teglia and Zach Williams will provide tunes. The full menu will also be available for purchase.
