Ogden-Made Comedy Short ‘Convicts & Chocolate’ Premieres Sunday

“Convicts & Chocolate,” a short comedy film written and directed by Brandie Lee McDonald of New Ogden Cinema, makes its online debut on Sunday. The parody mashup of “Forrest Gump” and “Con Air” is stacked with local actors and scenes filmed in Ogden and on the plane used in the film “Con Air.”
The film premiered at the Carbon Shortcuts Film Festival in Helper, Utah winning for “Best Use Of Theme.”
New Ogden Cinema is a micro-budget independent film organization that produces films in the Ogden area. Their award-winning filmography includes the “Ancient Evil” horror series, “Quiet On Set,” the feature-length “Married and Loving It” and more.
Collaborators and producers of “Convicts & Chocolate” were Brandie McDonald, Ryan McDonald, BJ Whimpey, and Danielle Bendinelli.
The film stars local actors BJ Whimpey, Charles Cook, Michael Rathburn, Elmer Acevedo-Garcia, Alec Combe, Michael “Sarge” Tavar, Adam Esrtada, Lance Nelson, Paddy Teglia, Brady Bean, and more.
