The LQ: Ogden’s Queer Art Zine drops first issue

Ogden Independent News

Ogden, we have a zine. A queer zine.

It is The LQ. Ogden’s Queer Art Zine, by Ogdenites Kye & Lisa Hallows who collected artworks (poetry, astrology, writing, paintings, graphic arts, literature, etc.) from local LGBTQ+ artists.

They wanted to unite the queer community, said Kye Hallows, “because we know how large it is and think that it might help others who aren’t familiar with the scene to feel supported and seen.”

It is a full scale, in-color magazine with high-quality artwork and writings, funded by an @ogden_arts grant.

The first issue just dropped on Saturday, October 2 at Hey Be Fab’s backyard yART Sale, in Ogden.

This small batch, initial run is already almost gone. Run over to Lavender Vinyl for a copy, only $3.

The LQ has an associated podcast called Toasted Lavender about queer culture, released every Monday “because Mondays suck,” Hallows said. Toasted Lavender is currently on a brief hiatus to launch the zine but will be back the end of this month.

Follow @toastedlavenderpodcast and @the_lq_ on Instagram or Toasted Lavender at patreon.com/toastedlavenderpodcast, and grab your copy of The LQ Fall 2021 issue at Lavender Vinyl.

The full story is coming soon. Stay tuned.
