Ogden, UT — A celebration on Saturday, October 15 marked the completion of a new community mural installation at Little Rainbow Candy Store. The artist Leon Araujo aka Noise Explosion, kicked off the project on August 13 by bringing 60-70 community members together to paint the historic building.

The new mural brings Latinx representation to the city. “Tlaloc,” the god of rain and thunder in Aztec culture is featured on the north side of the building, and Ogden sites are illustrated on the south side: Ogden’s Union Station, the Wasatch mountains, the Ogden Municipal Building, ‘Junction City’s’ historic Train No. 119, and the iconic Ogden sign.

On Saturday, Araujo, Little Rainbow Candy Store owner Flor Lopez, and community members talked about the process for the installation and why cultural representation matters.

Little Rainbow Candy Store is located at 3201 Washington Boulevard. More of artist Leon Araujo’s artwork can be found on Instagram at @noise_explosion.
