Ogden, UT — Local publisher, Glass Spider Publishing, which is responsible for publishing over 120 books of many genres since 2016, has had one of their publications picked up by Noah Centineo’s Arkhum Productions to be developed into a feature film

The book, “Ridiculous and Ill- Advised” written by Rale Sidebottom, is available to purchase on Amazon, and locally at Happy Magpie Book & Quill’s online shop. The book overview reads: “Dropout culture is on full display in this wild trip into the hinterlands, the story of America during one of its greatest decades, the 90s.”

Sidebottom will be writing the screenplay for the movie, which is set to begin filming in 2025. It is an exciting and relatively rare occurrence for the author of the book to also write the screenplay for a feature film.

While Sidebottom’s book is the first Glass Spider publication to be acquired for the screen, it’s not the first to pique the interest of Hollywood producers. At least 4 publications have been or are currently under consideration for film or television adaptation.

Ogden has a long-standing connection to the film industry, both with the Sundance Film Festival being so close to home and with many notable movies, programs and commercials being filmed in the area. Glass Spider Publishing and Sidebottom have opened a new door between Ogden and Hollywood with the film adaptation of Ridiculous and Ill-Advised that is aligned with the mission Glass Spider Publishing set out to create, which is to bring more visibility to authors.

Now in its ninth year, and with a growing roster of books by local authors and some as far as Kenya and Vietnam, Glass Spider Publishing is seeking to expand its reach further by adding book marketing and promotion to its comprehensive suite of book publication services.

“Writing is more than just publishing a book,” stated Glass Spider Publishing founder Vince Font in a press release. “It’s also about sharing our stories, knowledge, and fostering a culture that celebrates learning, community, and the exchange of ideas.”
