Calling all Snowbasin Passholders: Ski Sun Valley

Attention Snowbasin passholders: if you need an excuse to have a weekend away from Ogden this is it!

OUTDOOR/lIFESTYLE

Beyond the Wasatch front lies multiple ski resorts: Power Mountain, Nordic Valley, and most famously Snowbasin. It’s no secret that Snowbasin is considered one of the best in Northern Utah. Some might even argue it’s one of the best ski resorts in Utah entirely. What is less known about Snowbasin and seldom capitalized on by its passholders is its partnership with Sun Valley

Snowbasin extends its allure beyond its slopes by offering pass holders the opportunity to explore the world-class offerings of Sun Valley Ski Resort in Idaho. Depending on your pass type (premier or premier platinum), you could enjoy up to five days of free access to a captivating destination known for its breathtaking vistas, diverse terrain, and unparalleled skiing experiences. Being less than a 5 hour drive it’s the perfect weekend getaway.

“Okay this is great but I don’t have a pass or the correct type of pass!” Not to fret. This is a perfect weekend escapade without one!

The alternative:

Not far up the road is Galena Lodge where you can get your sportsman fix. Bring your own or rent snowshoes or cross-country skis. Then, be sure to take them on the extensive groomed and ungroomed trails offered to day-pass buyers($20). With 30 miles of Nordic trails and 15 of miles snowshoeing, I promise you won’t get bored.

When you’re done, grab a bite to eat in the lodge. They’ve usually got killer lattes and homemade soups!

Besides skiing, the towns of Sun Valley and Ketchum offer so much. One could say it’s the town that makes the experience entirely. There are farmers’ markets, gingerbread house-making competitions, art exhibits, local theaters, and more! Be sure to check the calendar for a variety of activities before you go.
