About The Ogdenite

The Ogdenite is an independent arts and news publication based in Ogden, Utah.

I'm Deann, founder of The Ogdenite, in 2019. After almost a decade of freelance writing for other local publications, I saw a lot happening in Ogden that was overlooked. I knew we needed and deserved something spectacular that is our own. One night, two words popped into my mind - "The Ogdenite" - and the whisper of an idea (and the domain name) was born. I started covering events, artists, and local businesses on the new site, and a recurring social media post every Wednesday, "Goings On About O-Town," (inspired by The New Yorker's 'Goings On About Town') that lists all the happenings for the week. We've intentionally grown our base organically to attract engaged readers by offering what they want and need — a trusted voice, and all of the information in one place. Now we are a growing team of passionate writers, artists, and designers united in this vision. And we love our readers.
