Ogden is gaining a new studio gallery featuring the work of local artists, paint nights and art classes. Salt and Sage Art Studio, owned by Kindra Foster and located at 115 25th Street, will have its grand opening for the public on Friday, February 17 at 5:30 p.m.
Foster is a tattoo artist at Skin It Tattoo and simultaneously skilled in other mediums. She says that many tattoo artists have creative skills outside of tattooing and believes those works should be showcased as well, which is why many of the artists featured at Salt and Stage Art Studio are tattoo artists from all different shops. She wanted to give space for multifaceted artists to grow.
These rotating artists will contribute a range of art types and mediums, including jewelry, paintings, insectariums, and tattoo prints.
“My focus for the studio is to bring people together through art,” Foster says. Growing up in a family of artistic women, some of Foster’s dearest memories of her childhood are taking art classes with her loved ones. “I think the memory and fondness of coming together to do art is why I wanted to open this place. It's cool to think I can possibly supply a place where family and friends want to come together and create memories close to my own.”
The classes at Salt and Sage will be beginner centric and targeted at those with little to no experience. Some of the class options include paint night, Bring-The-Kids paint classes, live model figure drawing and a 3 month course to learn the fundamentals of art.
The grand opening is on the 2nd floor of the building and will include refreshments, art to view and purchase, class sign-ups, and a live DJ. The event is family friendly and open to the public.
