Let’s Dance! New sober dance club opens in Roy this weekend

A new clubbing experience begins this weekend. Eliza’s Sober Dance Club kicks off at Pandora Box Events in Roy on Friday, Oct. 4, and Saturday, Oct. 5 from 9 p.m. to midnight and open to anyone 16 years and older.

The alcohol-free club will be open on weekends with different theme nights, and often, dance lessons included in the first half hour.

Eliza Perry, who recently moved back to Ogden and noticed an underserved sober community in Weber County, stepped up to create the inclusive dance club space.

“People deserve that kind of experience even if they’re sober,” she said. “I want everyone to feel comfortable.” Building community is her passion, especially in the city of Ogden she loves.

Perry was also surprised by the limited Hispanic or Latino dancing in Ogden but residents will no longer have to travel to Salt Lake City for it–her dance club will have regular Latin nights, starting Friday.

The dream is to own her own club space, complete with a mocktail bar, but Perry is happy to have the space at Pandora Box Events and grateful for their support.

Friday night features DJ Panda and DJ Karisma with a 30-minute dance lesson for all skill levels to learn the basics.

DJ Smoove is bringing Top 40 remixes and hip-hop to the club on Saturday night.

Other dance themes this month include Zombie Prom on Oct. 25,  Dia de Muertos: Day of the Dead Dance Nov. 1, and more.

Pandora Box Events is located at 1821 West 4000 South in Roy by the Ogden Airport. The entry fee both nights this weekend is $15.
