OUTDOOR ADVENTURE

We all know the typical spots for sledding in Ogden whether it’s Lomond View Park or Mount Ogden Golf Course. Maybe you’ve even been to that swanky tubing place, Wasatch Parc. They do the job but if you want to mix it up this season then New Trappers Loop road is it. Now you're probably wondering … isn’t that highway 167? Yes … but, hear me out. 

For a bit of a further drive outside of Ogden you can get 360 views of the most beautiful mountains around, practically no crowds, it's free, and the best powder. There are numerous spots to stop at and no particular coordinates or address.

Families with children can select less steep slopes together, while thrill-seekers can embrace the challenge of faster and more adventurous routes. We warn, it’s not for the faint of heart and requires some spontaneity—please proceed at your own risk. 

What you will need: 

• Sled (if you don’t have one pick one up at the Recreation Outlet or Walmart in Ogden or rent from Weber)

• Snow Pants or a snow bib 

• Long, waterproof boots 

• Hat, Gloves, Sunglasses and Layers! 

When you’re done sledding and need a place to warm back up, stop in historic Huntsville for a burger at Shooting Star Saloon if your party is 21 and over. For a family-friendly option try Mad Moose Cafe for lunch and hot cocoa.
