Doomcupcake is a new groovy alternative band in town, sparked by Zaza Historia VanDyke’s sweetly sad alter-ego. They make their public debut as part of the O-Town Pride show at Lighthouse Lounge on Friday, August 5.

When Zaza, an Ogden-based musician and singer/songwriter, began playing her instruments and songs online, Sofia Scott (Shecock with a Vengeance) noticed, and booked Doomcupcake for their Ogden Pride show.

“I started the project as just a way to write and play heavier angsty music to help with the heavy emotions I was feeling,” Zaza said. And then it turned into a band.

In response to the O-Town Pride show invite, Zaza quickly gathered local musicians to play her tunes live just in time for the Pride show: Max Muscolino (bass), Cashel Barnett (drums), Johnny Nikoloff (guitar), and Dave Crespo (guitar).

Doomcupcake’s first live performance at the O-Town Pride show, with Shecock with a Vengeance and Moon Traveler, is happening on the PBR stage at Lighthouse Lounge, Friday, August 5, at 8 p.m., $5 cover.
